Set against the backdrop of a mighty Victorian railway viaduct, San Stae brought this newly renovated loft apartment to life for award-winning regeneration company, Urban Splash.
Offsetting the industrial aesthetic with soft furnishings and accessories, we created moments of calm and reflection in the living areas, bedrooms and lobbies.
True to our word, artworks were sourced locally and featured beautiful glazed ceramics from Gaea Nayo and prints from Andrew Kalman, while drawings were supplied by the talented participants of San Stae’s Art Class. A new site specific painting by Aly Grimes, was commissioned for the space, featuring lashings of black paint and smeared charcoal dust in homage to the quarter’s gritty surroundings and neighbouring foundries.
“Working with Aly on a show flat for Mary Ann Street has been an absolute pleasure. Her ability to understand our requirements and seamless collaboration with the team has made the entire process enjoyable. Thanks to her extensive network, Aly was also able to source exclusive pieces which gave the flat unique edge. “
“Aly often goes the extra mile with her attention to detail, and was even present during the photoshoot, actively assisting in capturing the flat from the best angles. I highly recommend Aly as an interior designer as her passion in the field makes her a standout choice.”
